Contractor Accommodation in Suffolk; built around how project teams actually work.

Suffolk has become one of the busiest counties in England for project work: the Sizewell area, Felixstowe Port, Bentwaters, the Bacton energy corridor and a steady churn of EDF, BT, civils and rail contracts. The county's hotel stock was never built for that, which is why most contractors and their employers prefer self-catering houses run by a local operator.

Sizewell Stays manages a network of properties across the IP1–IP19 postcodes specifically for working stays. Our homes are set up around the same essentials (full self-catering kitchens, WiFi, fresh linen, regular cleaning, and parking at most properties) so you can move a placement from Ipswich to Leiston without renegotiating the basics. Exact inclusions and parking arrangements vary by property; we confirm specifics for the home you book.

How we work with contracting companies

Most of the bookings on our network come from procurement teams, not the contractors themselves. We have a settled rhythm with that: dates and headcount in by email, a property suggestion back the same day, an invoice raised against the company name with a PO reference, and a single contact for any extensions or swaps.

We do not run a portal or a back-office account system you have to log into. The arrangement is deliberately conversational, because no two project rotas look the same.

Crew accommodation done properly

Putting four to ten people in the same house only works if the house was set up for it. Bedrooms with their own desks and storage, more than one bathroom, a kitchen with two ovens or large hob capacity, a dining table the whole crew can sit around, and outdoor space that takes the pressure off the lounge in the evenings, these are the differences between a workable crew house and a stressful one.

Our larger Leiston and Wenhaston properties were chosen and fitted out specifically with crews in mind.

  • Van and multi-car parking at our larger crew houses
  • Boot rooms and drying space at our coastal properties
  • Two bathrooms minimum on most six-bed houses
  • Smart TVs and WiFi for shift-end downtime
  • Linen change and cleaning calibrated to length of stay

Where contractors stay across Suffolk

Sizewell-bound teams cluster in Leiston, Saxmundham, Wenhaston and Halesworth. Felixstowe and BT contractors lean toward Ipswich, Woodbridge and Wickham Market. Outage and shutdown teams almost always want the inner ring around Leiston for the shortest commute. We run properties across each of these sub-markets so we can move a booking sideways if the first choice is full.

FAQs

Common questions.

Do you only work with the Sizewell area contractors?

No. While Sizewell is our largest single source of bookings, we host contractors on a wide range of Suffolk-based projects including Felixstowe, BT openreach, civils, energy and offshore wind. The set-up of the properties is the same.

Can the company be the named guest on the booking?

Yes. We routinely book in the company name with the contractor named as the occupant. Invoices are raised to the company with PO references where required.

What is the minimum stay?

Three nights, though most of our contractor stays are between four weeks and twelve months. Weekly and monthly rates are available on request.

How quickly can a booking be confirmed?

If we have stock available, same day or next working day. For multi-property crew bookings we usually need 48 hours to coordinate.
